German newspapers defined Valerio's first American movie Calico Skies "Reminiscent of David Lynch" (DeMorgen) and "The director's touch and writing is reminiscent of Clint Eastwood" (Rheinphalz). After his degree in Literature and Philosophy in Rome, he joined the prestigious USC Southern California University for a Master in Film and Television Production.
He has worked for many years as second unit director in Hollywood and Italian cinema, collaborating with stars such as Christopher Lloyd, William Shatner, Drew Barrymore, Jean Smart, Dolph Lundgreen, Vinnie Jones, Billy Zane, Robert Davi. He directed the second unit on Fausto Brizzi's last movie "La mia Banda Suona Il Pop" starring Christian De Sica and Diego Abatantuono. He worked at Netflix USA for over three years as In-House Producer and currently lives between Los Angeles, New
York, and Rome. Calico Skies won the 65th Mannheim-Heidelber Cinema Owners
Grand Jury Price. In 2021 his successes granted Valerio a honorary double citizenship USA, Italy.
His latest film will be released in 2023 and it stars Oscar Winners F. Murray Abrahams and Danny Glover, and features Paz Vega, Julian Sands, and the Italian stars Marco Bocci, Marianna Fontana and Angela Fontana.
